If you get an opportunity to stay there do not miss it. Its a great place if you're not too fussy. This property is beautifully located in the Hill town of Ooty closer to the main bazar at the same time away from noise. The staff is good .The property is very old but reasonably well maintained. The food is nothing much to speak about however there are a large no of eating joints around this place at a walking distance.

His elegant sea-facing house at Colaba is a three-storied house, located opposite to Colaba post office, is divided into seven levels. This 8,5 acres property includes a beautifully wooded hill, a heritage bungalow, children play areas, badminton courts and rose garden. Spent two enjoyable days at the Officers Institute.

The location is great- very close to railway and bus station. We had a peaceful and pleasant stay here and hope to visit again in future. The location of SRTOHH on the top of a hillock provides the opportunity for enjoying bright sunshine on clear days. Tall pine trees add grandeur to the surroundings. Very well maintained by Madras Regiment of Indian Army.

Not for civillians.only for army officers and their families. Great experience, close to the nature. Peaceful place with awesome view of ooty's landscape and lights at night. You can book only through online from Jan 2020. Food is as good as normal defence mess.
Yes, there are certain additional charges, which appear hidden. I felt that being a welfare measure, the administration hardly treats it as such. However, minus the room condition, probably beyond the control of the management it is worth the stay. One can find better places especially homestays at similar price. I would only go there again if I got defence rates. The property is beautiful for a small walk.
Strict mess timings with limited food options. One has to plan their meals well in advance and inform otherwise it'll not be catered for. No option of ordering extra during dinner and lunch as the cook leaves. Despite being a foodie , I thoroughly enjoyed the messing, it was hygienic and well made. More or less like home made food with a little twist and some variety. There is no laundry and ironing service, but a washing machine is available for the laundry.

The second floor has a modern media room, a bedroom, and his personal gymnasium. The top floor has an infinity pool, a bar, and a sun deck that runs across the entire floor. Ratan Tata bought this lavish house in 2015.
