Mediterranean Interior Design for Kitchen, Living Room, Bathroom

Natural materials like wood, jute, sisal, bamboo, and wicker add texture and warmth. Opt for a large wooden dining table and choose natural finishes where possible. While these are the most popular types of interior designs, each country in Southern Europe has a different and unique style of its own. Thus, if you can look at the culture of a specific country as well to create your style, these designs also do not have any strict rules, and you can modify them to your liking and needs.

Greek Mediterranean Interior Design with Blue Accents

Modern Mediterranean interior design still embraces the key elements of the traditional style, but with a more simplistic, sophisticated approach. 'Modern Mediterranean design is a curated blend of handcrafted and simple elements, offering a refreshing update to the classic style that was so popular in the early to mid-2000s,' explains Aimee Marling. “Ask yourself what elements you appreciate about Mediterranean style—is it thematerials? ” Andrews suggests for people interested in incorporating the Mediterranean influence into their home. To help identify some of these elements and gather Mediterranean decorating ideas, consider these projects from Lucas and Jeff Andrews Designs.

Wrought Iron Details

This style is experiencing a resurgence in fashion, hotels, restaurants, and interiors. For example, vintage and widely reproduced sunburst-style mirrors resulted from this style. The Mediterranean style emerged due to cultures living along the Mediterranean Sea colliding over time.

DKOR Interiors' Ivonne Ronderos agrees, noting that clients are updating their homes to reflect how they live today. "In Florida, people are looking for a more contemporary style of living," Ronderos says. "So if the existing home was Mediterranean, we do our best to modernize it." A blend of Spanish and Italian architecture, Mediterranean homes are dominant in warm-weather locations like California and Florida, which also have Spanish influences. Popular architects at the time were Addison Mizner, who advanced this home style in Florida, along with Bertram Goodhue, Sumner Spaulding, and Paul Williams in California.

She modernized the space using new furniture, home décor, and fixtures which came to around $200,000. "Old houses have a lot of pokey awkward spaces and this house was no exception," says Denham. "Off the entry and kitchen is a small 5’x7’ space that we had to figure out what to do with it. We ended up turning it into a home office." By now, we're very familiar with the giddy feeling that follows when a striking home tour lands in our inbox. For us, it's equivalent to the joy of seeing a Net-a-Porter box on our desk. Yes, we really love interior design that much at MyDomaine HQ—this one made our hearts palpitate.

Baskets, vases, rattan, wicker, and jute are also popular decorative elements in Mediterranean interior design. You can use them to store blankets, pillows, and other items, or as decorative accents on your shelves and tables. This phenomenon can also be seen at other historic properties across various US coasts, although it’s particularly common in California. As Andrews adds, due to the climate and geographic similarities between the Mediterranean region and the Golden State, the style is particularly popular there.

With a warm, color palette and a balance of rustic and modern elements, this style creates a welcoming and elevated environment. Decorating with blue and white is an easy way to channel Mediterranean decor. A timeless combination synonymous with coastal style, blue and white is a brilliant color scheme for restful traditional living rooms and remains ever popular with interior designers for its versatility.

Finally, it’s worth mentioning that the trend skews closer to modern when it comes to the range and stove. While Tuscan kitchens feature corbels and ornate gas stoves, Modern Mediterranean is all about clean-lined hoods and sleek induction stovetops. Many of the iterations we’re seeing don’t have a range hood at all, in fact, they’re usually carved out and complimented with stone as the main design element. The kitchen is also small so Denham kept it simple and found a beautiful 18th-century pine oak table with painted green legs that stand out against the terracotta floors and white cabinetry. "It’s not a huge kitchen so using a narrow console as an island lends extra storage and counter space," she says. Linen’s durability and natural elegance make it an ideal choice for creating a living space that is both welcoming and aesthetically pleasing, embodying the relaxed yet sophisticated spirit of Greek design.

Ronderos, who tends to work on Mediterranean homes with an outdated yellow tone, agrees. In addition to warming up the space with wood and natural materials, like stone and marble with geometric patterns, Ronderos relies keeps both paint and furnishings minimal. "The first thing that we do is brighten it up with a crisp white paint to finish," she says.

Olive green, a color deeply rooted in the natural beauty of Greece from the olive groves that blanket its hillsides to the lush foliage of its Mediterranean landscapes adds a touch of nature’s serenity to your home. A natural flow between interior and exterior areas is signature to the Mediterranean style. Continuing stone or wood flooring or walls creates a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor living areas.

Decorilla emerged in 2010 when a group of passionate interior designers envisioned a platform to connect clients with top-notch design expertise. Since its inception, Decorilla has collaborated with thousands of professional designers who have transformed countless homes and commercial spaces worldwide. Every day, Decorilla’s designers craft bespoke interiors, allowing clients to experience spaces that resonate with their personal style and aspirations, fostering genuine connections with the world of design. In these typically rustic interiors, the focus falls on the architecture and the beauty of the natural materials. Cool and calming, whites and neutral tones are a go-to choice for a Mediterranean-style bedroom.

Wide and long kitchens with a dedicated island and dining table are common in these styles. However, the Mediterranean style can be incorporated in smaller kitchens as well. Make use of big carpets, rugs and stylish curtains to add finishing touches to your home.

For tiles that bring beautiful pattern and subtle texture try Otto's Moroccan-style zellige tiles on the wall and patterned encaustic designs on the floor. They are often designed to be a seamless transition from the indoor living space to the outdoors. Mediterranean patios are typically paved with natural stone or terra cotta tiles and are surrounded by lush greenery. They are also often covered with a pergola or other type of shading structure to provide relief from the hot sun. One of the defining characteristics of Mediterranean design is the use of natural materials. From stone and rope to wood and ceramics, these materials are often used to create a warm, inviting atmosphere.

They are also great for serving food and drinks and can be used as planters for your indoor plants. A Mediterranean house is a dream for someone who appreciates simple, yet elegant, spaces. "It's timeless and quintessential California," says Jute Home's Alison Davin, who is based in California. "If you want a house that is not trending and won't require updating—one with really warm woods, bright walls, and indoor-outdoor living—it's never really going to go out of style." Drawing inspiration from the Greek islands, the coasts of Spain, the rolling hills of Italy and even Morocco, Mediterranean design spans many territories. Named for the Mediterranean Sea, this design style is perfect for anyone who loves decor that's equal parts beauty and function.

Historically, the handoff of designs between a design team and a development team is one of the largest hidden costs of software development. Research shows that 60% of development time is on the user interface, but the tooling to get from an approved design to the right, bug-free code is limited. With Indigo.Design as your design to code solution, you eliminate any slow-down or mistakes in the form of UX bugs that drive this cost up (in terms of time and real money). True UX design-development collaboration becomes easier and time-efficient with Indigo.Design System and App Builder.

In her free time, Jillian loves to read, shop, and go running outdoors (just not in the Georgia heat!). While product teams might face various problems in creating and incorporating a design system into their design process, one of the most common problems is integrating the different tools a team uses. Even if a team has a pixel-perfect visual design with properly handled components, they could face trouble in the design handoff and coding, all because their tools do not work properly with each other. This is done by uploading or synchronizing your Sketch prototype to the Indigo.Design cloud. The foundation of a reliable and usable design to code system is ensuing there is one design system for UX designers and developers. With an agreed upon corporate design system, back by reusable UI kits with are based on real component libraries, anything that is designed in a design to code system can get turned into usable code output.

Usability testing and user testing are important because of the high cost of fixing UX bugs once software is shipped. Similarly to architecture, we use patterns in interface design to solve common problems. It’s possible to create a contact list using components, by pairing avatars and text sections. A well-crafted design system establishes a common shared language among team members, and this language allows the team to collaborate more effectively. Thus, the ultimate goal in creating a design system is to create both a single source of truth that can be referred to during product design and an effective shared language that all team members can use when working on a product. Indigo.Design On-Prem delivers the entire cloud.indigo.design experience on your private network or cloud.

We help financial advisors attract their ideal clients with custom content solutions. At Indigo Marketing Agency, we help financial advisors create highly personal digital marketing with done-for-you custom content. In conclusion, I definitely can say that Indigo.Design System allows rapid prototyping and it improves the design process. And I cannot leave out how Indigo.Design Plugin let me adjust the whole UI Kits. Certainly, I convinced myself of the great value of using the UI kits and the plugin. They are extremely handy for streamlining my workflow and keeping a consistent look and feel throughout my user interface designs.

Unfortunately, the software suffers from some glitches and may crash once in a while. Honestly, it’s annoying, especially when you’re in the middle of a design. Meet the Chef Duo Creating Seafood Synergy at Oyster House

oyster house philly

Located in Center City Philadelphia for over 40 years, Oyster House is Philly’s destination for everything seafood.

Lobster Party!

24 hours notice needed for all orders. Both chefs have spent the majority of their careers at Oyster House. Waters moved away in 2015 to the West Coast, but after returning to Philadelphia in 2022, he was brought back on as the chef de cuisine. Here, they talk about what they love about seafood, why they prefer East Coast oysters to West Coast oysters, and what goes into the Oyster House mirepoix. If waiting outside on Sansom Street on a weekend night is your version of a nightmare, opt for a bowl of New England clam chowder during lunch when it’s not crowded. But if you’re with a small group for dinner in Center City (and didn’t snag a reservation), this classic is worth the wait.

The Best Restaurants Near Rittenhouse Square

Otherwise, you’re already more than familiar with this classic seafood restaurant and oyster bar. After more than forty years, it’s still one of Center City’s buzziest spots for post-work drinks, big group dinners, and everything in between. Every dish was perfect, especially Grilled fish over the jasmine rice with green curry, this dish is perfect combination with Thai curry, worth every bite (Highly recommend). Thank you so much Chef who created this dish. And also your staff are very nice, made us had a great time to enjoy the food.

Oyster House combines the best of both worlds—the generous hunks of Maine lobster are tossed in a well-seasoned, mayo-based sauce, while the toasty bun it’s served in is buttered. This stunning tower comes with all the usual suspects—oysters, clams, lobster, and shrimp—along with scallop crudo, salmon rillettes, and mussels escabeche. We’d be just as happy with a straight oyster platter, but this is a nice change of pace and great for a group. Enjoy our seafood in the comfort of your own home.Choose from one of our two take home kits to satisfy your seafood cravings, any time.

“There are so many go-to dishes – like the lobster roll, the crab cake, fisherman’s stew, fried oysters, and chicken salad – that are the comfort foods people come here for,” said Campoli. But if you ask us, we’d recommend extending an invitation to the friends who have a gold star in sharing. Almost all of the plates work family-style.

There’s not a bad dish to be had here, though some are just okay. While they’re as pretty as the vintage oyster plates hanging on the walls, there’s no reason to get the undercooked scallops or the (very) under-seasoned clambake for two. The chefs always have something new to offer on the menu, but make sure that they balance it with the traditional classics. Sign up with your email address to receive news and updates.

There are a lot of good shrimp dishes in Philadelphia. We update our Menus daily to offer you the freshest seafood available. Please note these are SAMPLE MENUS only and not an exact copy of today’s menu. What a fantastic on my birthday!

Of course you want a platter of oysters, but the smoked bluefish dip and roasted clams XO are also great starters. The New England-style lobster roll is lemony, mayo-y goodness, and the Maryland crab cake is reliably crispy. For four decades, patrons have been able to feast on dishes deeply rooted in the region’s culinary history, such as snapper soup and fried oysters with chicken salad. Perhaps the key to walking the line between carrying on a legacy and staying relevant is having people who grow with the restaurant. They both have spent a large part of their culinary careers working at Oyster House, and at one point, Waters was actually Campoli’s boss.

Regardless of titles, they both agree that they’re always learning something new from each other and from the staff on their team. Sure, Philly has lots of great seafood options, but we’re far from a fishing village, and great oyster bars are hard to come by. Oyster House has long been the city’s best, and the hour-plus wait for seats on a nightly basis is a testament to the longstanding quality and great service. This loud and lively place works for almost anyone and for almost any occasion, which is a whale-sized part of the restaurant’s charm. If not, welcome—you must have arrived in Philly five minutes ago.

Our Do It Yourself Lobster Roll Kit provides all of the buttery goodness you crave without the risk of a soggy bottom. Have one for breakfast, lunch, and dinner or invite some friends over and share the goodness. Grab a seat at our oyster bar, roll up your sleeves and let our master shuckers teach you how to shuck like a pro.

We ordered a dozen of oyster and then another half dozen of Royal Miyagi, New England Clam Chowder, Maryland Crabcake and a Whole Maine Lobster. Finished with two Espresso Martini! Behind the Line is Foobooz’s interview series with the people who make up Philly’s dynamic food and beverage scene. For the complete archives, go here. Seafood is our family business. Run by third-generation restaurateur Sam Mink, Oyster House’s story dates back to 1947.

Please make reservations for the best experience. Management (Kelly, Danielle and Justin) are friendly and welcoming . Stephen my server was knowledgeable on the history of the restaurant and its menu. Heading into the new year, the chefs hope to do more collaboration dinners with other local restaurants. Some lobster rolls are mayo-based, while others are all about the butter.

Oyster House Review Center City Philadelphia

“There are so many go-to dishes – like the lobster roll, the crab cake, fisherman’s stew, fried oysters, and chicken salad – that are the comfort foods people come here for,” said Campoli. But if you ask us, we’d recommend extending an invitation to the friends who have a gold star in sharing. Almost all of the plates work family-style.

Thank you so much Chef who created this dish. And also your staff are very nice, made us had a great time to enjoy the food.

Two of them form the base, with a central element connecting them and the third one is the rectangular top. Modern contemporary, traditional, rustic, industrial, Scandinavian, and boho-style are some popular styles of wooden centre tables to consider. When viewing a table in a room that has enough light to make out forms but not details or wood species, it is still possible to discern the function of the table by looking at the legs. Four heavy legs joined by a horizontal stretcher tell us that this is a library table intended to support a load of books.

This DIY Concrete and Wood Dining Table is part of the Geometric Furniture Collection Sarah from The Created Home and I designed.

The term simply means that, functional and structural requirements aside, some method has been employed to decide on all the dimensional details of your table. While the wood species, edge treatment and apron certainly can make stylistic statements, it is the legs that most clearly establish a table’s style and visual effect. As important as well-designed legs are, they will only be successful if they are considered as part of the overall design. For dining tables, the design begins with seating capacity. Unless you are planning to use extension leaves, you have to decide how many people you want the table to accommodate and live with that. Although it may be tempting to build a large table to account for any eventuality, you should consider how the table functions on a daily basis for the immediate family.

I hope you are inspired to build your own table now that you know how easy it can be with furniture kits and then customize it to your personal preference with paint and stain. Next, you can go ahead and secure your tabletop to your table base with wood screws using the pre-drilled pocket holes. Now lift the table base slightly to apply wood glue inside the traced area. And, then once all of your DIY wooden table parts are glued and screwed you can stand your homemade wooden table up and admire your work. Go ahead and piece your homemade table together to make sure it all fits nicely, then add wood glue.

A design rationale is crucial to building tables with pleasing proportions. The three described below are proven approaches, but others are possible. With work tables, height might be the most important consideration.

For those not yet acquainted with topping their bagels with fish, lox, like smoked salmon, is cured fish, meaning it has been preserved in salt. Both result in briny, thin strips of salmon served cold — While the two are similar and often used interchangeably, smoked salmon can be from any part of the salmon's body, while traditional lox is made from the belly. At Belle's, lox is sourced from a local smokehouse in North Hollywood — this shop likes to emphasize local ingredients.

With a relatively small sandwich menu, Jyan Isaac Bread's sourdough bagels are able to stand on their own, and are naturally fermented, boiled in barley malt water, and baked. New York Bagel and Deli is another shop that attracts East Coasters in Los Angeles, and it's not just because of the name. This bagel joint, which is one of two locations, truly emulates the atmosphere typically found in New York City bagel shops, and is known for its fresh and high-quality selection, plus generous portions. Family owned since 1987, Bagel Broker is the real deal, with consistent, affordable bagels—a dozen (which here means 14) bagels for $18—that have made this Beverly Boulevard bagel shop a breakfast mainstay among Angelenos for decades. (More recently, Bagel Broker also opened up a Downtown location.) The tiny strip mall spot often draws lines as soon as doors open at 6am for its freshly boiled bagels, which are made on site. The bagels maintain their airy interiors and chewy crusts even after toasting. Bagel Broker also offers a ton of flavors, including jalapeño cheddar and cheese onion, plus containers of spread and schmears to take home and enjoy. The bagels are made fresh daily and served with a variety of spreads, including honey walnut and sun-dried tomato cream cheese.
